EVER HAD A scallop? No, not that kind of scallop. A chipper scallop.
They’re common in England and Australia, but here in Ireland they’re mostly associated with Waterford (though they can also be found in certain chippers in other parts of the country).
Scallops are simply thin slices of potato battered and fried, and are best served with a generous amount of salt and vinegar.
Waterford people have a LOT of feelings about them.
The best place to get some is in the Cleaboy, Johnnie Walkers, or The Marian
And yes, people do have them as an accompaniment to chips
